"New Egypt" Organizes Visit to Wadi El Rayan Reserve with 100 Children in Celebration of World Environment Day 2024

As part of the cooperation protocol between the "New Egypt" Community Development Foundation and the Ministry of Environment.

As part of the cooperation protocol between the "New Egypt" Community Development Foundation and the Ministry of Environment, the foundation organized a visit to the Wadi El Rayan Reserve for 100 children, including a number of children with special needs. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of preserving natural resources in nature reserves and was part of Egypt's celebrations for World Environment Day 2024. The visit included a cleanup campaign at the Wadi El Rayan Reserve to educate participants on the importance of waste management in nature reserves to protect their natural resources and biodiversity. Participation in cleaning initiatives was supported in collaboration with environmental partners.

The activities featured interactive and recreational events for the children, such as pottery making, painting, and organizing competitions. The children were also educated on the harmful effects of littering, especially plastic waste, on marine life and the role individuals play in mitigating these harms. The event was attended by MP Dr. Ghada Ali, a member of the foundation's board of trustees and regional director for Egypt and the Middle East, Mr. Mohamed Mostafa, a member of the board of trustees, and Mr. John Fikry, the Secretary-General of the New Egypt Foundation.

The areas of cooperation include launching initiatives and pilot projects that help address environmental problems and improve living standards through the implementation of small projects that consider environmental aspects. Additionally, various segments of society, especially women, are integrated into environmental work, building capacities in environmental fields, training trainers in all governorates, creating volunteer databases, organizing field visits to environmental projects, promoting eco-tourism, and increasing green spaces. World Environment Day is celebrated annually on June 5th, and this year’s theme is "Our Planet, Our Future... Together We Restore Our Earth."
