Empowering foster youth through policy advocacy at the NYC Legislative Breakfast
NEW YORK – The Mayor’s Office of Nonprofit Services partnered with the Council of Family and Child Caring Agencies (COFCCA) last week for a powerful Legislative Breakfast held at the new headquarters of the Chinese-American Planning Council. The gathering brought together city leaders, elected officials, nonprofit providers, and youth advocates for a day of inspiring dialogue. A youth-led panel featured leaders from Bravehearts M.O.V.E NY, You Gotta Believe, and SCO Family of Services, highlighting the lived experiences of foster care youth and their drive to reform systems that impact their lives. “These incredible young leaders opened their hearts and shared how their personal journeys fuel their passion for supporting justice-involved youth in foster care,” said a spokesperson from the Mayor’s Office. The event also spotlighted COFCCA’s bold legislative priorities and policy recommendations to strengthen services and ensure better outcomes for young people in New York City.
