Matrouh, Egypt — March 14, 2024
In a significant gesture of community solidarity ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, Major General Khaled Shoaib, Governor of Matrouh Governorate, received a food aid convoy from the New Egypt for Community Development Foundation on Thursday, March 14, 2024. The initiative aims to support low-income families during this spiritually and socially important time.
The convoy included 350 cartons of essential food supplies, each weighing approximately 10 kilograms.
100 cartons were designated for Siwa City, a region known for its unique heritage and ongoing development needs.
The remaining 250 cartons will be distributed to other families in need across Matrouh Governorate.
Governor Shoaib extended his gratitude to the foundation's leadership, including Major General Nasser Rashad and Major General Khaled Shafik, for their continuous support and community development efforts. He highlighted the importance of ensuring basic food security, especially during Ramadan, to promote dignity and stability for families in need.
"Efforts like these are vital in upholding our responsibility to provide a decent life for all citizens," said Governor Shoaib during the handover ceremony.
"We value the role of civil society organizations in supporting development and reaching those who need it most."
He also instructed that the food parcels be distributed fairly and efficiently to eligible families.
As a nonprofit organization, New Egypt for Community Development emphasized the importance of honoring donor intentions when allocating aid. By aligning its initiatives with donor requests, the foundation ensures:
Sustainable funding through continued donor confidence
Alignment with donor passions and priorities
Reputation building through transparency and accountability
Effective marketing via word-of-mouth from satisfied contributors
"Following donors’ directions not only honors their generosity, but also helps us expand our impact," said a spokesperson for the foundation.
