Egyptian International Women’s Club Announces Donation of Blood Transfusion Unit for Sickle Cell Patients in Bahariya Oasis Under the Leadership of Dr. Mona Tantawi
n a pioneering humanitarian initiative that reflects the highest values of social responsibility, the Egyptian International Women’s Club, chaired by Dr. Mona Tantawi, announced the donation of a fully equipped blood transfusion unit to serve sickle cell anemia patients in Bahariya Oasis. The initiative aims to support the healthcare sector in remote areas and alleviate the suffering of patients who require regular and ongoing blood transfusions.
Photos documenting the arrival of the equipment to Bahariya Oasis have already begun circulating in preparation for the official handover, pending the arrival of Dr. Ghada Ali, Regional Director of the Egyptian International Women’s Club in Egypt and the Middle East. Her journey from Cairo across the desert to the oasis takes approximately five to six hours, reflecting a powerful example of dedication and commitment to community service. We pray for everyone’s safety throughout this journey.
It is worth noting that Dr. Mona Tantawi personally covered all costs associated with establishing and fully equipping the blood transfusion unit, in a noble humanitarian gesture that reflects her deep belief in the mission of giving and serving patients in the most underserved communities.
In the same context, New Egypt Group announced its contribution to sickle cell disease awareness campaigns, with plans to launch a comprehensive media campaign soon aimed at promoting early detection, prevention methods, and providing psychological and community support for patients and their families.
Those leading the initiative extended their sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of this humanitarian effort, especially:
Dr. Mona Tantawi
Ms. Aida Al-Manzlawy
Dr. Christina Raphael
Ms. Naira Hammad
Ms. Ola Amin
Mr. Abed El-Keshk — Founder of the Egyptian International Women’s Club in New York
